How does this calculate what I need on my final?
It weighs each graded assignment by the percentage you give it, adds them up for your current weighted score, then works backward from your target grade to figure out what score on the remaining weight (e.g. your final exam) would get you there.
What if the weights of my graded work don't add up to 100%?
Whatever's left over is treated as the remaining assignment or final exam's weight — so if you've entered work worth 70% total, the calculator assumes the remaining 30% is what's still ahead of you.
What does it mean if the score I need is over 100%?
It means your target isn't reachable with a normal score on what's left, given your current grades — the calculator will say so plainly rather than showing a misleadingly "doable" number.
